Should we add the category inside the url of a WordPress blog ?
Is it still useful to add the category inside the permalinks of a WordPress blog ?
At the beginning of the 2000’s years, it was classic to add the category in the permalinks, just before the article’s title. It was giving to the internaut the possibility to know in advance what was the theme of the article even whithout clicking on it.
Nowadays, we need short urls, to share them easily on social network, without having to shrunk them to much and replace certain words by points instead.
So, we need short domain names, precise article’s titles with the essential of the subject discussed, and also a minimum of particles between slashes, and more a minimim of slashes.
Only 13% of the most ranked blogs in Google are still using the category in permalink. So we can clearly say that we can do without it.
