Nowadays the thermal paste is of good quality, it really makes it possible to drop the temperature of 80°C with a base cooler at 50°C and using a high-end cooler. However its implementation is always a puzzle, to know how much to put and how to apply it. In reality, it is relatively simple, just put a ball of 6-7 mm diameter in the middle of the processor and then affix the ventirad that will spread it. The main problems of thermal paste are that it always that we get dirty fingers unless you have gloves, it also lasts about 3 years before losing efficiency and it is not reusable.
So what is the reusable and long-term solution? a good solution is to opt for a graphite thermal pad. It does not lose its ability to cool the processor over time and especially it is reusable at will. Plus, you do not stick your fingers with it. It is as good as thermal paste.
