When you turn on the microwave and heat a dish, bowl or other containers, electric arcs appear, joining the top of the microwave and the right side plate.
Yet there is no metal in the container (spoon or other).
In fact this comes from the projections on the side plate (mica plate) which have degraded over time.
This mica plate makes it possible to clean the microwave without coming into contact with the magnetron that sends the waves. It must be nickel, otherwise the magnetron will receive its own waves and be damaged.
Electric arcs are the consequence of a surplus of carbon on the mica plate.
You have to change the mica plate which costs a reasonable price on the net.
Alternative:
If the plate is not damaged too much. You can remove it, clean it. Be careful, it is as fragile as a cardboard plate slightly laminated. Put it there flat, clean it with a wet spongex sponge, while gently making circles. Do not scratch the notches on the side. Remove as much dirt and carbon as possible. Go there in the hair dryer.
When you put it back on, make sure that the cleanest part is facing the magnetron, inside the microwave cavity.
To prevent premature aging of the mica plate, remember to cover all containers with a plate. Also remember to regularly clean the inside of the microwave.
