It is possible to build a camera for capturing UFOs. For this you need pieces of PVC, some joints, a glass dome from a bulb, a camera type spy camera. Some DIY tools like a drill, a diamond disc, sandpaper, ... a diffraction grating, some video cable. It all costs 150 euros.
This camera called UFOcatch will be able to provide the light spectrum and thus give the composition of the UFO to better identify it. For the moment, we can not know exactly how far the camera is, but only assume in relation to the cloud ceiling. We can imagine a similar device with a GoPro camera to have a much better resolution. It is possible to calculate the direction of the object.
This is a very big step forward for 70 years that we observe UFOs in the world. Most are undetectable by radar if we believe airports that often do not confirm their presence. Thus, when witnesses report them to the gendarmerie or to the local newspaper, it would be possible to have images with the key to comfort them and to better list them.
The CNRS, with ESA, has developed more sophisticated stations but the public does not have direct access to the images. This is the FRIPON network that aims to scan the sky to list the meteorites entries into the atmosphere and possibly calculate their place of fall to finally recover their remains.
