History :
This city was founded by Duke Barnim 1st of Pomerania during the 13th century. We can find the citation of the name of the city in an act dating from the year 1267.
The Thirty Years War and the plague that followed wreaked havoc in the 17th century. Over 200 people died of the plague. The arrival of 244 Huguenots who were expelled from France then made it possible to increase the population.
The Church of St. Mary was built between 1250 and 1280. It was then transformed into a hall church, with a flamboyant Gothic style. It is part of the Evangelical Church of Pomerania and has been classified as a historical monument.
Strasburg is twinned with the towns of Brodnica in Poland, Drawsko Pomorskie in Poland, and Straßburg in Austria.
