If you get the “Could not instantiate mail function” message when you try the contact page in WordPress, that means that you have an issue with your mail system.

I suggest you to setup Exim4, instead of sendmail.

If you fail to setup Exim4 or if you don’t have access to your server, then you can try to setup an SMTP email with Gmail for example.
