The measures of the deputy Delphine Batho on the subjects of agriculture, energy and health during the primary of the ecologists of September 2021 to target the French presidential election of 2022.
Agriculture :
Lobbies are not that strong when society is mobilized. The lobbies are not unbeatable. We need a law separating the state and the lobbies. We are in a kind of collusion of powers. We must put an end to revolving doors, put a tight barrier between ethics, the defense of the public interest and the private sector. Every time we sign a free trade agreement, we import 100,000 tonnes of beef with animals that consume in the worst conditions with cheaper meat. We need agricultural sovereignty, a management of junk food, animal suffering and the disappearance of peasants all over the world.
We must create a decree that bans neocotinoids, glyphosate, SDHI, all so-called CMR pesticides, that is to say carcinogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic, endocrine disrupting.
Energy:
There is no perfect solution, you have to know how to make the right choices. We must opt for floating wind power, avoid deep installations which have an impact and do not have an interesting competitive model.
Against the launch of the new nuclear fleet with 6 additional EPRs included in EDF's strategic plan. Nuclear power poses security and safety problems which are extremely important. We must organize the gradual reduction of nuclear power, as we decrease energy consumption and we move away from fossil fuels under responsible conditions.
Against the splitting of EDF into three entities to independently manage nuclear, hydraulic and renewable energies. EDF must not be subject to the logic of the market.
We must put an end to irreversibility, stop surface storage, and instead opt for underground storage. We must prevent the construction of new reactors.
We must reflect on the questions that arise in relation to the living environment of the people in these municipalities which are surrounded on all sides by wind turbines, in relation to the impacts on biodiversity. The ecological transformation of society is not a long list with controversies over the electric car, wind power, etc. The question that arises is: what is our compass? The most important thing is to reduce our consumption, it's good for the power of families to live, it's good for the French economy because it reduces our external dependency. We must develop renewable energies, but all renewables, such as geothermal energy, renewable heat, biomass. We cannot, for example, raze hectares of forests to put in a solar panel field, it would be absurd to make choices on energy that would be contrary to biodiversity. We need consistency, we need a compass.
Health :
Patients at the end of life must be given free disposal of their bodies, and therefore have access to euthanasia.
The French hemp industry has enormous potential, as does cannabis. We must supervise the legalization of cannabis, with a policy of prohibition for minors, a public health policy. It is an economic emergency for public health, through therapeutic but also recreational cannabis. Part of French agriculture is waiting for a decision to be taken.
Containment must be applied when the situation calls for it, everything must be done to save lives. The sanitary pass must be implemented if necessary, but control by the cafeteria and the restaurant owner, as well as the inherent dismissals, should be avoided.
We must continue to push for vaccination, good citizenship and general mobilization in the fight against the pandemic. It is necessary to base oneself on the recommendations of the scientific council. The politicization by the President of the Republic, the hyper-concentration of powers in the management of the pandemic is not doing public health any service. It helps to fuel the fire. We need the health authorities, the Minister of Health, Public Health France, who explains the situation, the measures taken. The fact that everything is focused on the President of the Republic with a form of instrumentalization is one of the elements which illustrate a drift of the institutions.
We should not move towards compulsory vaccination for all, but rather stick to the recommendation.
