Emmanuel Macron joined the Institute for Political Studies in Paris in 1998 after failing the entrance examination to the École normale supérieure (ENS). He graduated from Science Po in 2001. He obtained a Masters in 2000 and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in 2001. He then went to the National School of Administration (ENA). He then joined the General Inspectorate of Finance. He refuses to lead the movement of companies in France (MEDEF). He became advisor, then investment banker at Rothschild & Cie. A negotiation of buyout by Nestlé of one of the subsidiaries of Pfizer which is valued at 9 billion euros allows it to become a millionaire. He became Deputy Secretary General of the Élysée Palace in 2012, then Minister of the Economy, Industry and Digital in 2014. Finally, he became President of the French Republic in 2017.
