The International Space Station was launched as a project in 1983 after studies in the 1960s and 1970s. The project will wait until 1998 for budget issues.
It is estimated that the International Space Station has cost more than $ 115 billion to date. A cost denounced by the detractors with very little interest concerning the results or potential of the experiments carried out within it.
The station has a laboratory, an observatory of the Earth and space, a departure base for distant missions.
The theoretical end of the station was fixed in 2024.
