Furniture seizure procedure by a bailiff in France
The bailiff must first notify the person concerned of the judgment in question, the date of seizure. There is a first visit to list the goods to be seized then a second for the seizure. The notification of the seizure can be sent the day before it. Usually there is a one month delay. You will have to pay the bailiff and the movers. The amount collected by the auction of goods will be notified to you later.
List of goods that the bailiff cannot seize:
- the fridge,
- the food,
- clothes
- the computer if it is a working tool,
- tables and chairs if necessary,
- washing machine,
- the apartment, the house if it is primary housing,
List of goods that the bailiff can seize:
- TV,
- the car,
- trinkets,
- the paintings,
- the tablets,
- Hifi stereo,
- money in the bank account,
- the apartment, the house if it is a secondary accommodation.
It can also go to other places where you are likely to hold property.
In case of absence, the bailiff will force the door.
