Nowadays, with the Google Panda algorithm, it is important to avoid having low quality content. Only a few bad articles can have a negative effect on the overall quality of a website or blog. While a few years ago, it was not problematic to have a few pages with little content. Google would refer them anyway. These texts would have been misplaced in the search results.
In 2016, Google will not reference your texts if you do not make the effort to remove the parts that are poor. It is necessary to insist on the structure of your sentences, of your paragraphs. A question that comes then is how to find poor quality content and how to improve your writing to increase the level of your website.
Example of low quality content:
Duplicate content
The worst possible content is the duplicate content. For example, you just copied and pasted the content of another webmaster to your website, or your own content from elsewhere on your blog. If it's a quote, then you have to add citation tags with a noindex. The best is to remove this content to not be penalized.
Zero search engine traffic
With the help of the webmaster tool, Google Analytics, you can see which pages are reached by organic searches. But also those who do not have visits from Google, Yahoo, Bing or Ask. This means that these articles are poor, that they must be rewritten or deleted.
Dead links
Content that has broken links, that is dead, is also a problem. Google will try to explore these links. Robots will count internal links, external links for its algorithm and get a value to position your article in the search results. Dead links will have a negative effect on the value of your page.
Plagiarized content
You can be a victim of plagiarism. Another webmaster copied your content. It's very annoying for Google to consider that both pages are duplicate content. You can report to Google that your content has been copied. For this you have to go to the Google page with the title "Legal Removal Requests".
Content with less than 400 words
It is important to write articles that have a minimum of content. Having texts with less than 400 words can be a hassle. In reality, there is no official rule on the length of a content. And some pages are even referenced, with very few words, provided you have excellent keywords, or if there is no competition. However, if we look good, most pages well placed in Google have endless texts. This can be annoying for the reader looking for short, precise and quick answers. But Google appreciates that the article was created at length. There is more chance that the quality is really good. You will also notice that all pages that perform poorly on your website have less than 100 words. It is therefore advisable to do long articles, filled with keywords related to the main theme of your writings. You will then have to think of putting in bold the parts which can especially interest your visitors.
Remove all the pages where you have little content, or optimize the texts by lengthening them. You can also add noindex in the header of these pages so that they are no longer taken into account. It will regenerate your sitemaps for the changes to be taken into account and then resubmit your website in Google.
On WordPress, it will be easy to add the noindex tag to pages that you no longer want to see in Google. Just use the YOAST SEO plugin. Then go to titles and metas> taxonomies.
