The hair cycle is divided into three distinct phases, with a phase essentially of growth, followed by a phase of rest, then finally a phase of stability which ends with the fall of the hair.
The anagen phase.
This is the phase during which the hair will grow. It is the longest period of the hair cycle, since it lasts between 2 and 5 years. Most of the hair on our head is in this anagen phase.
The catagen phase.
This is a rest phase. The hair then stops growing. It lasts 3 weeks. It’s very little if we compare this period to that of the previous phase.
The telogen phase.
During this last phase, the hair does not grow, it is attached to the hair follicle. The hair will fall out at the end of this phase. A new follicle will take its place. The hair cycle begins again with a new anagen phase.
Do not hesitate to consult a dermatologist for the advice of a health professional.
