You can get the following message when you call lsb_release on Debian. It is a common error due to the lack of a package that should be present on your operating system.

No LSB modules are available.

That means indeed that the lsb_release command is installed on the server but not the module called lsb. So, you just have to setup lsb with this line :

apt-get install lsb-core
