The AES extension is given to files that have been encrypted with the 256-bit encoding algorithm through the AES Crypt software. To be able to open this file, you need software compatible with this format. Your best bet is to use the original software, namely AES Crypt:
If you have a problem while installing via the executable file "setup.exe", with an error message saying that "Visual C ++ 2010 Runtime Libraries (x64)" must be installed and the software fails to install it 'install or update it, then go through the "AESCrypt.msi" file. This error is explained in the "Install Notes.txt" text file.
How to use AES Crypt and decrypt AES file?
Once the software is installed, all you have to do is right click on the file with the AES extension (example file.zip.aes) that you want to decode in Windows Explorer and select AES Decrypt, then enter the password used to decrypt this file. Finally this will extract its content which you can then open.
