Here is a graph that shows the proportion of men and women in the overall population in France. There are slightly more women. No doubt because of male mortality after a certain age.
However, if we look by age group, the phenomenon is reversed in the first 54 years of life with 5% more men:
At birth: 1.05 boys / girl
Between 0 and 14 years old: 1.05 boys / girl
Between 15 and 24 years: 1.05 boys / girl
Between 25 and 54: 1.01 boys / girl
Between 55 and 64: 0.93 boys / girl
65 and over: 0.75 boys / girl
