Sandrine Rousseau on agriculture, energy and health
The measures proposed by the policy Sandrine Rousseau on the subjects of energy, agriculture and health, during the debates of the primary of the ecologists of September 2021 for the French presidential election of 2022.
Agriculture :
The common agricultural policy was originally made for France. We must revalue the training of farmers. We must rediscover the sense of taking care of the earth, with smaller structures, smaller yields. You have to work on a real social contract on their career, grant them real rights to retirement without going through returns, because otherwise you are dependent on the permanent increase in returns.
We must not put the neocotinoids back, face up to the lobbies. as can be seen with chlordecone, the choice of certain chemicals can permanently pollute the soil and prevent any agricultural activity on the land. We must move towards a ban on all synthetic pesticides, limit the use of fertilizers, prevent the intensification of agriculture, we cannot negotiate with the quality of the soil.
We will have to support the transition, reduce productivity. We need to increase the number of jobs in agriculture and have stronger social protection.
Energy:
Nuclear power is extremely dependent on water, river level or sea level. The problem is that droughts will worsen and increase in frequency. We are going to enter into extreme climatic events. The cost of the EPR has dropped from 3 billion euros initially to 19 billion euros and it is still not working. We must therefore seriously think about this exit from nuclear power.
Let's put this money on renewable energies, put this money on energy sobriety so that we can get out of an always additional energy need.
The EPR is heresy, an absurdity. The best decision that seems to be made is that you need 6 more when not a single one works. We are in a non-rational ideological confinement. Massive funds must be committed to the energy transition, and to renewable energies. All the money that will go to EPRs cannot be used to go towards sobriety, towards the energy efficiency of companies, towards investments in renewable energies. You don't need an EPR. we cannot continue to close our eyes and imagine that without changing the model, and by accelerating it, we will solve the climate problems that are before us.
We cannot leave nuclear waste 100,000 years underground. It is imperative to get out of nuclear power.
On the acceptability of wind turbines, there is a part of the population who find that wind turbines are ugly, while the power lines that come out of nuclear power plants are just as bad. We have to think about it and ask ourselves who benefits from these wind turbines; the inhabitants must benefit in part from these installations. Wind turbines are much more profitable than other sources of energy.
Health :
We need a health plan with a law on the end of life, so that the respect and dignity of people are maintained until their last breath, and therefore have a law that authorizes euthanasia.
Young people take substances, we do not know what is in them, what the content of the product, of the cleavage product, is. We have to put it under public control, this will also make it possible to control the quality of what is distributed and to ensure that distribution to minors is not authorized, there must be a health policy to support people who are dependent. Today it goes completely under the radar, it is pragmatism to legalize.
The health pass is a very authoritarian measure. Authoritarianism is an ineffective means that only makes the situation harder. The goal of collective immunity is important, but the current method is not the right one.
We must encourage people to go for the vaccine but by showing understanding, pedagogy and benevolence, not by threatening them with dismissal.
