Sandrine Rousseau on defense, security and women's rights
Sandrine Rousseau's measures on immigration, security, defense as well as women's rights for the environmentalists primary of 2021 in order to present a green candidate in the French presidential election of 2022.
Defense :
We must follow the military programming law which provides for a significant increase in the defense budget, which is currently just under 2% of GDP.
We need a European civil protection force more than a European fighter jet project. Before having a European army, we first need a foreign policy of the European Union.
The European Union must consider concerted European nuclear deterrence. However, we must eventually move towards nuclear disarmament.
Immigration :
We must welcome all Afghans who wish to flee the Taliban. We must defend migrants.
Security :
We must support Assa Traoré in his fight. Every time a person dies under police bullets, the instructions take years. There are reports and counter reports, a sort of mistrust of the autonomy and independence of these reports. Because the police must be exemplary, there must be a real, rapid investigation each time, with means, which is implemented so that the citizens who are the victims, and their relatives, can get the truth as quickly as possible. . This type of combat defends the right to know what happened, and the right to understand the unfolding of events.
We must protect the citizens and appease the country. Today ecology is the only project that can really protect citizens, since the absence of ecology exposes them to major crises in the next ten years. It takes courage, anticipation, political ambition. Ecology is the only way to social peace and the only way to national harmony.
Muslims and Muslims in France are totally absorbed and pushed into amalgamations that have no place. They are not all terrorists and do not all drift towards terrorism. They are part of French citizenship. There are some people who are dangerous, and who are often animated by international networks and who are part of international networks, these people must be controlled, imprisoned, and hunted down in the strictest possible way. The vast majority, almost all of them, have a religious practice that respects French democracy and our sense of secularism. We can wonder about the rise of certain extremisms, but this is managed through anti-terrorism, internal and security policies.
We need a very fine network of the police, with a local police force installed in the districts, which knows the population, like what has been done in Germany and Great Britain. It is a police force of complicity and peacekeeping in a given space. We cannot just carry out communication operations around security, security cannot be managed by means of declarations. We must reinvest in a de-escalation of violence. Police officers must be reminded that because they have the legitimacy of the public force, they must be exemplary. The IGPN must be taken out of the police so that it is completely independent from the police. When there is a blunder, there must be an independent, objective investigation carried out. Confidence must be restored with the police, especially when the population is permanently subjected to facies checks.
Women's rights:
Women can wear whatever they want, both a crop top and a veil, even if the veil is sexist. The history of women is made of prohibitions on clothing. The veil is above all a garment. For some women, the decency is to keep the veil on the head. Decency over women's bodies is the most underlying thing about discrimination against women. The 3 great monotheistic religions have in common the desire to control the body of women.
We must ask ourselves how to ensure that women emancipate themselves, and in particular from religions, because they are places of male power over the body of women. We need the means to give all these people a quality education, to have access to culture, to all public services, to ensure that if they want to reveal themselves one day, they are free to to do so, accompanied, to take them out of their environment if necessary.
Secularism is a source of emancipation. secularism makes it possible to separate religions from the state, to ensure that the state is the guarantor of the common good, and that religion is preserved in forms of personal conscience. The rights of women must be respected, in this case the right to dispose of one's body. We do not make emancipation by prohibiting the body of women whether it is a crop top or the veil. Women's bodies are theirs and they put exactly what they want on that body. We must not go back on the law which prohibits the wearing of the veil at school for minors.
We must create a ministry for equality between women and men, put in a billion dollars to fight effectively against violence against women.
