Why does Sendmail keep running on the Debian server

You recently stopped the Sendmail service that allows you to send emails from your web server. You want to disable it because there are conflicts with other packages, such as Postfix or Exim4. And yet Sendmail continues to work.

Try the following command in your SSH interface:

service sendmail stop

You can also manually delete Sendmail in /etc/init.d/. Then restart Apache2.

Do not forget to make a backup first.
