Size comparison: Jupiter vs Saturn

Size comparison between the planets Jupiter and Saturn. It is interesting to notice the similar shape of these two giant planets. These two celestial bodies have the same duration of rotation. The surface temperature is very cold there. Saturn's gravity is equivalent to that of Earth, while Jupiter's is 2.5 times greater. Saturn is twice as far from the Sun as Jupiter. Their respective number of natural satellites is similar. The composition of their atmosphere is also quite close.

What differentiates them the most is of course the presence of the rings around Saturn. These rings form a disc with a diameter of 360,000 kilometers, they are composed of frozen water, their origins are uncertain, they can result from a moon which would have deteriorated, or from the very formation of the planet. The latest studies assume that the rings are only 100 million years old. If they were as old as the planet, their color would be darker.

As well as the giant red spot on the surface of Jupiter. This task is a 15,000 km long and 12,000 km wide anticyclone which would present a composition of sulfur and phosphorus gases.
