The star R136a1 is extremely young, it is located in the stellar cluster R136, which contains 10,000 stars and is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is the most massive star that astronomers have found so far. It is also one of the brightest and hottest stars known. If it were at the level of the closest star to Earth, namely Proxima Centauri, its luminosity would be the same as that of the Full Moon. This star will end its life in hypernova, generating a stellar explosion which will deliver a total energy of more than 100 supernovae.
