Google will litteraly stop to index pages if their quality is no good enough.

So you don’t really have to submit your website to a search engine, except Google. There is no need to submit your site to the Excite, Lycos, AOL, Duckduckgo and Altavista search engines, as they use other engines to generate their results. They don’t have their own system. At the best, they will compile the results of different engines and directories.
